From seed, Johnny's Genovese
Started inside: 3/30/12, 5 cells with 1 seed per cell.  Nearly 100% germination.
Transplanted: 5/18/12, when had 4 leaves on the plant.  Planted approx 8 inches apart.  Needs good moisture for good production.
Still have some seeds left.

From seed, Johnny's Italian Pelleted
Started inside: 3/30/12, 5 cells, with 1 seed per cell.  Nearly 100% germination.
Transplanted 5/18/12 (see above).
Still have seeds left.

Purchased a 6 cell mix from Jericho Settlers 5/27/12 - slightly larger plants than ours, with a few seed starts per cell. 

Tips for next year:
Plant a few seeds per cell, together to get a more "bunched" basil plant, with no need to thin. 
Good moisture.
